As you may not realize, the Ricoh/Fujitsu scanners are primarily designed for scanning papers. However, scanning sports cards with gloss and thicker than a regular sheet of paper can lead to unexpected results. In some rare situations, the fi-8170 or the fi-7030 scanners may be slightly misaligned, resulting in a pressure mark in the middle of the card. This mark typically resembles the following image.
If this is your case, that you are seeing the exact same lined on your card that we do have a fix for this.
IMPORTANT!!!! Please note that the fix should only be applied when specifically addressing the mentioned issue. Furthermore, it is crucial to understand that this fix is permanent, and there is no option to revert it. Once the fix is implemented, the scanner may potentially encounter problems when scanning regular thin reciepts. However, it should work effectively for cards and eliminate the groove issue.
The problem comes from a little plastic guide that is needed to keep very thin paper together. If you're scanning cards only and that what you see on your card look exactly like in the picture, here is the fix.
