Mass update shipping for cards already on eBay

Modified on Fri, 24 Jan at 12:47 PM

From time to time, you might find it necessary to adjust your shipping charges across all your listed sports cards on eBay. Whether it's due to rising shipping costs, changes in your packaging materials, or adjustments based on regional or international shipping policies, keeping your shipping fees up-to-date is essential to maintaining a profitable and competitive online store.

This tutorial will guide you through everything you need to know about how the shipping mechanism works between Kronocard and eBay. You'll learn how shipping settings are managed, how Kronocard syncs your updated rates with eBay, and the best practices to ensure a smooth transition when modifying your shipping fees.

When selling anything on eBay, there are three types of business policies that you can control: payment policies, shipping policies, and return policies.

When listing cards on eBay using Kronocard, we take care of creating policies that match your shipping and return information from Kronocard. There’s no need to create policies manually. For example, if you list a card with a domestic shipping cost of $3, a corresponding shipping policy of $3 will be created on eBay. Each time you list additional cards without changing the shipping details in Kronocard, the same policy will be reused.

If you have graded cards to list and you increase your Kronocard shipping cost to $10 before listing them, a new policy will automatically be created on eBay to reflect the $10 shipping charge.

If the cards are already listed on eBay and you need to update the shipping value, there are two options:

  1. Batch selection and modification: You can select multiple listings and modify their shipping settings directly in eBay. This method is suitable when you have a small number of cards to update.

  2. Modifying policies directly on eBay: When you have a large number of cards, the fastest and safest way to update shipping costs is by modifying the policies directly on eBay. This ensures that all existing listings using that policy are updated instantly.

How to View Your eBay Policies

To access your eBay business policies, visit the appropriate link based on your region:

On these pages, you will see all the policies that you or Kronozio have created over time.

  • Type of Policy: Return, Payment, or Shipping.
  • Policy Name and Description: A quick overview of each policy.
  • Status: The most recent action taken for that policy.
  • Listings: The number of listings currently using that policy.

Any policies that contain zero listings can usually be deleted.

In the example below, I have three shipping policies:

  • One with a $48 shipping cost.
  • One with a $51 shipping cost.
  • Another with a $51 shipping cost, which also includes an international shipping charge. By expanding the details, we can see the specifics of this policy.

Modifying Policies

To make changes, simply open a shipping policy, modify it, and save. All the listings associated with that policy will be updated on eBay immediately—it's that simple!

Merging Shipping Policies

For example, let's say I want to merge both of my $51 shipping policies. Initially, when I first listed my cards, I wasn't offering international shipping. Later, after adding international shipping details in Kronocard, a new shipping policy was created.

To merge similar policies, select the policies you want to consolidate by checking the boxes on the left. Once selected, a button will appear at the top labeled "Reassign Listings" Use this option to merge your listings under a single, updated policy.

It may take a few seconds or minutes for the changes to reflect on eBay. Wait and refresh the page—you should eventually see that the policy you want to remove shows zero listings. Once it does, you can safely delete that policy!

You can modify, reassign, and delete policies directly on eBay.

Important Reminder

For example, let's say my old shipping cost was $2.00, and I updated the policy value on eBay to $2.50. You also need to update the value in Kronocard for future listings.

  • If you update the shipping cost to $2.50 in Kronocard, it will reuse the same policy you modified on eBay.
  • If you forget to update it in Kronocard, it will create a new policy at the old rate of $2.00.
